~ Wendy Smith, Quilt Fever Co-Convenor, in the Nov/Dec newsletter
Hello, Fellow Quilters.
By now, the Fall season is in full swing (and even the weather has started to co-operate). I hope you have your Show quilts well underway, and items for sale in the Members’ Boutique stacking up in the cupboard.
First, thank you to the terrific members who came forward at the September meeting and volunteered to help Linda Morrish with the publicity for Quilt Fever. The postcards will be printed momentarily and I think you will be pleased. Linda is compiling a list for distribution and would love any names and addresses of places you enjoy shopping and visiting.
Donna Brock has done quite a bit of research and has some great suggestions for things that will sell well at the boutique. She is still finalizing how to share her ideas and maybe her patterns. Stay tuned.
Pick to Win Draw
Donna Bristow needs about 40 handmade fabric items for the Pick to Win booth. About half that number have been promised at this time, so please let Donna know if you can add something. Just hand it to her in Studio C or at a monthly meeting. If you have any questions, contact Donna (please see newsletter for contact details).
Admissions and Welcome Mug Rugs
At the October meeting. Sarah Lord would love to see the Mug Rugs that members signed up to do. She says that would mean the Mug Rugs are almost done. That is terrific work, and I thank Sarah and all those who spent time making the little cup coasters.
Adele Gataveckas is hoping to have the quilt entry forms available shortly. She has done a great job at a complex task and has been slowed down at times by me and all the other newbies to the show.
Marilyn Breen and Mary Rose have pretty much filled the Merchants’ Mall with some of our favourite vendors. They may need some last minute help setting up and washing down the tables.
Volunteering at Quilt Fever
Mardi Taylor and Heather Patterson will be at the back of the room at our October members’ meeting, to sign up volunteers for the show. A sign-up chart will also be posted in Studio C. Please go and check out all of the opportunities.
We are hoping to have a block contest. I am waiting to hear from an anonymous member who is considering taking on part of this work. The block will not necessarily be appliqué, but details are still hazy. If you would be interested in meeting to help plan this, please let me know.
Best, Wendy Smith, Quilt Fever Co-Convenor
